Notes:
- Reebok bought The Hockey Company in 2004 and after the lockout ended, the Reebok branded jerseys made their debut in the 05-06 season. These jerseys were mostly identical to the early 00’s Koho/CCM branded jerseys, but with the Reebok Vector logo on the rear heck where the CCM/Koho logo was located.
- Some old stock was used by the Hawks in 05-06, some jerseys had the Vector logo sewn onto a piece of airknit material and sewn over the old CCM/Koho logo. Additionally, the NHL changed the shield in 05-06, making the NHL angle upward rather than downward. The new shields were sewn over the old shields on the older stock jerseys.
- These are the last of the ‘traditional cut’ jerseys, 07-08 started the ‘edge cut’.
- The team continued set tagging in the form of patches sewn into the rear hem of the jerseys after the season, prior to their being sold through Hawkquarters. The red & whites were tagged 1 of 2 for set one, 2 of 2 for the 2nd set. The alternates were tagged 1 of 1. This style of tagging is used through the 08-09 season.
- Nikolai Khabibulin joined the team in 05-06 and introduced the concept of changing jerseys in between periods. Going forward until present, Hawks goalies have had 3 jerseys issued to them and they change between periods. Presently, they wear the same 3 all season. In these early years, it may have been 3 jerseys per set. A few other players also wore multiple jerseys per set, notably Bondra & Ruutu. The multiple jerseys were noted behind the NHL shield, as ‘A1’ ‘A2’ ‘B’, etc.
- There are several different sets of tagging in these jerseys, notably many still with CCM on the tags.
- For the first game of the 05-06 season (October 5, 2005 vs Anaheim) the league had all teams wear a NHL Cares Katrina Relief Fund patch on their jerseys and they auctioned them off on NHL.com with proceeds going to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund. The jerseys were just worn in the first period of the game, in the second period the teams started wearing their normal set 1 jerseys. The story on why they wore them only in the first period is that Sidney Crosby wanted a jersey from his first game, so the league accommodated by having all teams switch after the first period. For the Hawks, these would be the first NHL jerseys of Duncan Keith & Brent Seabrook. There was no other special tagging in the jerseys.
- In 06-07, the league again had all teams in the league wear a patch for a game and auctioned them off for a charity, this time the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. On January 5, 2007 vs Nashville, the Blackhawks wore this patch, this time for the whole game. The jerseys were again auctioned off via NHL.com and had a Meigray NHL Gameworn tag inside the rear hem with a serial number which was entered into the Meigray database.
- The black alternate was worn for 10 games in 05-06 and 10 games in 06-07.
- There was no Hockey Fights Cancer patched jerseys for these two seasons.
- All season noted featured a Shirt Off Their Back Night (SOTB) or Fan Appreciation Night jersey being given out to ‘random’ attendees of the last home game of the season. This practice continued until the early 2010’s. In some years, the jersey contained special tagging, the 03-04 jerseys are confirmed to have a Fan Appreciation set tag similar to the patch sewn in the other jerseys in this era. In all letters that have surfaced that came with these jerseys, they are worded “Congratulations on winning…” rather than “Congratulations on purchasing…”. The Hawks typically wore a new set of jerseys for the SOTB promotions, although there may have been a season or two where they were worn longer.
- Hawkquarters continued their practice of selling “Locker Room Jerseys” around this time. If there were jerseys that originated from the Hawks locker room, but they were not sure what set it was part of, or if it was a backup jersey, etc, it was sold without an LOA at a discount. Some great deals came out of the Locker Room section as many had solid wear and were later photomatched.
